What do you make for a little man that is turning two years old, that just graduated into his first big boy bed, and that has two older brothers - that he tries like HECK to be just like, (8 years old and 4 years old), that are very very into Pirates, Skeletons, and Spooky Stuff?
You make him a Big Boy Bed Skeleton Blanket.
The Blanket is 5 feet wide by 7 feet long.
Made from MANY skeins of Wool-Ease Thick & Quick yarn. It is very thick, super soft, and very warm.
This picture shows the texture of the stripes pretty well. The skull and crossbone motif is worked over stockinette stitch. The stripes are worked over a 'waterfall' stitch; a mock cable with eyelets (i know how much i LOVED sticking my fingers through holey blankets when i was a kid ;P) that has a rather fitting name. :D
Detail of the border skull motifs and an attempt at a closeup of the waterfall stitch.
Detail of the skull. Chart for the skull was designed by Jennifer Stafford - DomiKNITrix (www.dominitrix.com)
I created the chart for the bones from an actual Jolly Roger flag found on a google image search.
Niko opens his present with some help from Mom. He is pointing out that it is, in fact, a skeleton. ;)
It fit just perfect on his brand new "big boy bed".
Checkin' it out. :D
